Tool #1: Creating a blog

I have used blogs before I did the 23 Things a couple years ago, and I have used blogs in my classroom. I have used a blog as a way to share what is going on in my classroom and as a place for my students to write. I have also considered having my students use blogs for collaboration, and I plan to continue using them.

I'm not as big a fan of voki. I think the idea of it just creeps me out, and I don't like it when web pages talk to me without my permission. I prefer using Yahoo! Avatars for some reason. I really think it's because they don't talk to me.

  1. Vokis don't talk until you want them to do so! :-)

  4. I like yahoo avatars better too.

I was considering having student's use blogs next year in class as a way to document and reflect what theyve been upto in class. My mum gave me the idea, that if they are blogs that work with google reader, you could subscribe to them in there and have an easy place to see what each student documented all in one easy place.

  6. I'm not a big fan of the Voki avatars either. They are too demanding on resources, in my opinion. They use a lot of RAM because they like to make the eyeballs follow your mouse. I don't know who thought that would be a cute idea, but like you, it just strikes me as creepy.
